Aquí us adjuntam més informació sobre el viatge:

Viatge per a practicar l’anglès, visitar l’institut Saint Ambroise i fer sightseeing (visitar aquesta part del país).

D’una durada d’una setmana (de dissabte a dissabte).

A realitzar una de les primeres setmanes de desembre d’aquest curs escolar.

Les activitats a realitzar estan totes organitzades pel institut escocès Saint Ambroise.

Les activitats inclouen: visita del centre escolar, visites i excursions per la regió per a descobrir el paisatje, gastronomia, costums, conèixer gent nova i és clar, practicar anglès.

L’allotjament serà a una residència d’estudiants.

El preu oscil·larà entre uns 400-500 euros tenint en compte que el curs que ve es tornarà a cada alumne/a una quantitat entre 150 i 200 euros.

El preu inclou l’allotjament, el berenar i segurament les menjades (a confirmar), avió i els trasllats en autobús durant la setmana.

Si el grup és menor de deu alumnes anirà acompanyat per la professora Miquela Riutort del departament de Llengües Estrangeres i si el nombre d’alumnes supera els deu també acompanyarà el grup la professora Xisca Ballester del mateix departament.

El grup del IES Na Camel·la anirà acompanyat per alumnes i professors d’altres tres instituts de Mallorca.

El Saint Ambroise High School està ubicat al poble de Coatbridge a la regió de Lanarkshire a 16 kilòmetres de Glasgow i 53 d’Edimburg.

The tomato festival, or Tomatina, takes place every year in Buñol (Valencia) in Spain. It's in August. People come to the centre of town with thousands of tomatoes. They have a tomato figh.

Strawberry festival

In Florida in the USA, there's a strawberry festival each year. the festival is in March. There are parades, games and funfairs. People eat strawberries and celebrate the beginning of the strawberry season.

Cheese-rolling festival

In May the cheese-rolling festival takes place in Gloucester, a small town in England. At the festival, people push a large cheese down a hill. They run after the cheese and try to catch it. If you catch the cheese, you're the winner.

Eurochocolate festival

In October, the Eurochocolate Festival takes place in Perugia, in Italy. This a big festival for people who love chocolate. You can learn about chocolate and you can eat lots of chocolate too.

Come to the West Coast of Scotland

TheWest Coast of Scotland is a fantastic place for a holiday. There aren't any big cities, but there are lots of villages. There are beautiful lakes and rivers. There are also mountains - including Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in Britain.

One of the best places to visit is Inverawe Country Park. There are beautiful valleys and lakes and it's a great place for walking or cycling. You can see eagles and you can also go fishing in the lakes.

The Bermuda Triangle

It was a sunny afternoon in 1945. Five American planes were flying over the sea near Florida. Everything was fine. Suddenly, the pilots sent a strange message to their controllers: "This is an emergency. We're lost".

"Fly west", the controllers said. The pilots sent this answer: "Everything is wrong, strange. We aren't sure of any direction. The sea looks different".

Then, the five planes disappeared. The pilots' last words were: "We are completely lost". The controllers sent another plane to look for the pilots. That plane disappeared too.

Soon, people were talking about the "Bermuda Triangle". Strange things happen in this part of the ocean. For example, an American ship called the USS Cyclops disappeared. There were 300 men on the ship. The weather was sunny. The ship did not send any messages. Where did it go? Nobody knows. The Bermuda Triangle is a mystery!

Com ja sabeu el dimecres dia 5 (2C) i 12 (2B) de maig anirem a visitar la Casa de Robert Graves a Deià.

Així, avui farem feina sobre aquest escriptor per què el pogueu conèixer i saber una mica d'ell quan anem a visitar ca seva, " Ca n'Alluny".

Here I introduce you to Robert Graves

1. Read this biography about Robert Graves and answer the questions on the NOTEBOOK.

Robert Graves was an English writer. He was born in Wimbledon (London) in England in 1895. He was a writer. He wrote novels, poems and biographies. Robert Graves studied at the University of Oxford.

In the First World War he was a soldier and he was hurt. He married Nancy Nicholson in 1918. Then, he moved to Cairo (Egypt) to work at the University of Cairo. At the university he worked as a teacher. In 1929 Robert came to Mallorca for the first time and lived with a friend in Deià but with the Civil War they left the island and went away.

He wrote his famous novel I, Claudius in 1934. In 1939, he moved to England and started a new relationship with a lady called Beryl Hodge. After the Second World War in 1946 Graves came to Mallorca. He lived in Deià again. He married his girlfriend here in 1950.

On December 7th, 1985 Robert Graves died in his house in Mallorca.

Dimecres que ve dia 28 d'abril al institut hi haurà un parell d'activitats per celebrar el dia de Sant Jordi (23 d'abril). Així que avui treballarem sobre aquest dia. Però abans repassarem una mica el que treballàrem ahir a classe.

Dia de Sant Jordi (or Saint George Day) is celebrated on April 23rd. So, this Friday is Sant Jordi. This day is the Day of the Book, it is a very importat day in Catalonia; we also celebrate it in the Balearic Islands and at IES Marratxí.

It is a tradition that boys give a red rose to girls and people buy and give books as a present. This day, in Palma there are bookshops on the streets that sell lots of books.

Avui el que farem és començar el vocabulari de la Unit 6 (les parts de la casa i el que hi ha a cada una) i continuar repassant el Past Simple.
La pròxima setmana començarem el Past Cotinuous sense deixar al nostre amic Past Simple!

1. A l'enllàç que trobareu més endavant heu de pitjar a les següents habitacions: bany, cuina, habitació de dormir i sala d'estar.

a) Heu de fer quatre columnes al QUADERN col·locant Bathroom, kitchen, bedroom i living-room.

b) Davall de la columna corresponent heu de posar tot el vocabulari (en català i anglès) que surt excepte al bany i la cuina on posareu només el més important.
Per exemple el que és més important són la pica de rentar-se les dents/mans (lavabo), excusat, banyera, sabó, secador, etc però no importa objectes com els ànecs per jugar a la banyera!).
De la cuina no importa el breadholder (recipient per guardar el pa), paper de cuina o batedora.

Bones! Esper que hageu tengut unes bones vacances!

Ara anem a per feina. Avui començarem la Unit 6: Food and health (Menjar i salut). En les feines d'avui heu de fer molt bona lletra!!!

En aquest tema estudiarem vocabulari sobre menjar i begudes. També aprendrem que en anglès hi ha noms contables i incontables. Continua llegint per saber el que has de fer:

COUNTABLE & UNCOUNTABLE NOUNS

Com acab de dir hi ha noms que es poden contar i noms que no es poden contar.

Countable nouns (noms contables)
Les podem trobar per unitats: una poma, dues cebes, cent cadires.
Davant solen dur un número (5 tables) o a/an (an orange).
Espot fer el plural (books)

Uncountable nouns (noms incontables)
No ho podem contar, no podem dir una farina ni tres farines.
Davant NO duen números ni a / an (Incorrecte: a water, two sugars)
NO pot anar en plural ( sugars)
Són incontables tots els líquids, els cereals i pastes (arròs, pasta, pa, etc) i menjar en pols (Cola-cao, café mold, llet en pols, farina, etc).

1. Agafa el quader i:

a) Posa el títol Unit6: Food and health.

b) Posa un subtítol que posi: Countable & Uncountable nouns

c) Fes dues columnes, una de Countable nouns i l'altre de Uncountable nouns.
Col·loca a cada columna l'aliment que correspongui.

1. Agafa una fulla i posa de títol: Parts of the house (Parts de la casa)

2. Fes quatre columnes i a cada una escriu una de les següents parts de la casa:

Today we are going to work on Unit 6: The PAST CONTINUOUS tense.

1. It is very similar to Present Continuous but instead of using verb to be in present (am/is/are) you have to use the verb to be in past (was + were). The rest is the same. Look at this structure.

Affirmative: Subject + was / were + Verb (-ing)

Example: They were playing football

Ells estaven jugant a futbol.

Negative: Subject + wasn't / weren't + Verb (-ing)
Example: Mary wasn't reading a magazine
Na Maria no estava llegint una revista.

Com es forma una frase en PAST SIMPLE en NEGATIU?

Subjecte + DIDN'T (=DID + NOT) + Verb en infinitiu (regul: sense -ed /irregul: 1era columna)

A) Hauràs d'utilitzar el google.com i anar a "imatges".

Pierre Montesquieu was a French painter and sculptor. He was born in Lyon in France on the April 25th, 1901. He painted 127 paintings and made 68 sculptures. Pierre studied at the University of Sorbonne in Paris.

In the First World War he wasn't a soldier and he stayed in Lyon. He married his girlfriend Marie in 1931. Then, he moved to Casablanca (Morocco) to work at the University of Casablanca. At the university he worked as a teacher. Pierre lived with his wife and two daughters.

He painted his famous painting Le fleur in 1952. After the Second World War Pierre moved to Lyon.

On May 2nd, 1989 he died in Lyon.

Madame Tussaud Museum

Madame Tussaud was born in France in 1761. She wasn't from a rich family, but she became a successful businesswomam. She made was models of politicians and other important people. In 1802, she came to the UK with an exhibition of her wax models.

In 1835, Madame Tussaud opened a permanent exhibition in London. She died in 1850, but her exhibition is still very popular. Two and a half million people visit it every year. There are Madame Tussaud exhibitions in other cities too - Las Vegas, New York, Amsterdam and Hong Kong.

The exhibitions have wax models of famous people from the present and the past. There are actors, politicians, kings, queens and pop stars.

Avui a classe aprendrem a dir HI HA.

1. Llegeix atentament!

Hi ha dues formes de dir "hi ha" segons parlem en singular o plural. Llegeix i copia al quadern el següent.

- si hem de parlar en singular i dir que a qualque banda HI HA una cosa o persona posarem THERE IS.
Per dir que NO HI HA: There isn't

Com ja varem quedar dimarts passat avui heu de crear una redacció (composition) utilitzant la informació que us donaré i seguint l'exemple del texte de Robert Graves (escriptor anglès que va viure a Deià on hi morí fa vint-i-cinc anys).

Recordau que l'heu de fer i entregar en un full apart avui a classe.

1. Read the following text:

Robert Graves was an English writer. He was born in Wimbledon (London) in England in 1895. He was a writer. He wrote novels, poems and biographies. Robert Graves studied at the University of Oxford.

In the First World War he was a soldier and he was hurt. He married Nancy Nicholson in 1918. Then, he moved to Cairo (Egypt) to work at the University of Cairo. At the university he worked as a teacher. In 1929 Robert and a friend lived in Deià (Mallorca) but with the Civil War they left the island and went away.

He wrote his famous novel I, Claudius in 1934. In 1939, he moved to England and started a new relationship with a lady called Beryl Hodge. After the Second World War in 1946 Graves came to Mallorca. He lived in Deià again. He married his girlfriend here in 1950.

On December 7th, 1985 Robert Graves died in his house in Mallorca. If you want you can visit his house "Ca n'Alluny" in Deià.

Shakira is perhaps the most recognizable voice in Latin pop/rock today. When she was only 8 years old, she dedicated her first song called "Tus gafas oscuras", to her father. The Fonix English contest

Com ja sabeu el nostre centre ha participat en el concurs Fonix. Aquest consta de diverses proves per tal d'afavorir la participació de l'alumnat que estudia anglès i obtenir un guanyador a nivell de centre, illa i Balears.

A principi de mes es feren les proves al IES Marratxí amb una gran participació, s'agraeix molt que els alumnes participin i s'esforcin. Els guanyadors i alumnes que representaran al centre a la pròxima prova són:

2on ESO: Júlia Galindo López.
Na Júlia va ser la representant de 1er d'ESO del nostre centre a nivell balear l'any passat i quedà cinquena! Enhorabona una altra vegada Júlia.

4. Treballa el llibre de lectura:

Els alumnes que la setmana passada es deixaren el llibre heu de llegir la plana 12 (o el text que trobareu aquí abaix) i fer els exercicis que trobareu a continuació a un full apart per entregar. Pitja AQUÍ.

Stonehenge is an enormous prhistoric monument near Salisbury in the South of England. In 2800 BC the people of the Stone Age began to build Stonehenge. There were two big circles of huge stones. They were concentric circles. By about the year 1400 BC there were two stone circles inside the original ones. These stones were very heavy. Some of them came from Preseli mountains in South Wales, 383 kilometers away! How did the people move them? This is an amazing mystery.
But what was Stonenhe? We don know, Some people believe it was a type of calendar with a religious meaning. Some astronomers also think that Stonehenge was an astronomical instrument. They think the huge stones measured the movements of the sun, moon and stars. Other people think the Druids used Stonehenge as a temple for reilious and magic rituals. But no one really knows.

Avui encara repassarem el Present Simple i Continu i la setmana que ve començarem amb el Passat Simple.

IMPORTANTÍSSIM!!!!!: Recordau que divendres dia 19 tenim un control de: "To be", "have got", "Present Simple" i "Present Continuous".

Demà a la classe treballareu un full amb aquesta gramàtica que entra a l'examen. Així que fixau-vos bé perquè al control hi haurà preguntes semblants!!!!!
