1. Read:

The Olympic Games take place every four years. About 10,000 competitors from 200 different countries participate in about thirty different sports. The Games start when the Olympic torch arrives at the stadium.

NEW SPORTS

Triathlon - new in 2000

In the Olympic triathlon, the competitors swim 1.5 kilometres, cycle forty kilometres and then run ten kilometres. Men and women do the triathlon.

Taekwondo - new in 2000
Taekwondo is similar to karate. It's from Korea. The competitors use their hands and their feet. Men and women do taekwondo at the Olympic Games.

Women's wrestling - new in 2004

Wrestling is a very old sport. It's an original sport from the Olympic games in Ancient Greece. It's usually only for men, but from 2004, it's for women too.

The richest

American films stars are very famous and very rich. Julia Roberts gets about $20 million for every film and Tom Hanks gets about $25 million. The richest film director is probably George Lucas, the director of the Stars Wars films. He gets about $200 million a year.


The biggest

Hollywood is the name of the famous film industry in the USA. It makes about 600 films a year, but it isn´t the biggest film industry in the world. "Bollywood", the film industry in Bombay, India, is bigger then Hollywood. It makes about 1,000 films a year. Every day, 15 million people watch Bollywood films!


The most successful

The most successful films from 2000 to 2003 were:

Welcome again to school. I hope you had great Christmas holidays!!!!!! Today we are going to learn about India.

0. You need an open office document and Wide World Web (internet).

1. Go to internet and look for a map of India. Copy and paste it on an open office document.

2. Look for the name of the most important cities in India.

3. Write the name of the four most important religions in India.

4. Go to google and write the name of ten official languages spoken in India.

5. What is the “Taj Mahal”? Which four architectural elements has it got?

6. Look for a picture of the Taj Mahal and paste it on your open office document.

8. Who are the dalits? You can describe it in Catalan or Spanish.
